Christopher Jones


Christopher Jones began Suzuki violin studies at the age of four and has been performing for more than twenty years.  He holds a M.M. degree in Violin Performance from the University of Michigan and a B.M. degree in Violin Performance and Music Education from Ithaca College.  His primary teachers include Aaron Berofsky, Susan Waterbury, and Jonathan Beiler.  Christopher has participated in masterclasses with such renowned violinists as James Ehnes, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, William Preucil, and David Halen.   
Professionally, Christopher has been a member of several regional orchestras including the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, Flint Symphony Orchestra, and Binghamton Philharmonic.  He is also a frequent substitute with the Symphony in C (formerly Haddonfield Symphony).  Christopher has served as Concertmaster of both the University of Michigan Philharmonia Orchestra and the Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra.  
As a soloist, Christopher was a two-time winner of the Ithaca College Concerto Competition was awarded the 1st Place Instrumental Prize at the 2007 Empire State Music Competition.
Christopher has spent summers attending the National Repertory Orchestra Festival, Kent/Blossom Music Festival, National Orchestral Institute, Brevard Music Center, and Garth Newel Music Center.
A passionate teacher and educator, Christopher is currently a Strings music teacher in the Lumberton Township School District and a part-time faculty member of the Westminster Conservatory. Previous teaching experiences have included serving as an Interim Violin Teacher at the New Jersey School of Music in Medford, New Jersey, and teaching violin group classes to public school students in Flint, Michigan, as part of the Sphinx Organization.
